Friday, July 18, 2025 - Day 651 - Family Reunion

The family has been home for 8 days and tonight, thanks to the f🤬cking Houthis, we had our first missile red alert since their return.

Mind you, we have a jetlagged toddler who is on the spectrum. So let's just say that on average she's been out all day without a nap, and then comes home and goes to sleep at 8pm. Sounds normal right? Well then she wakes up about 2 hours later and is up for the next 6 hours. When she finally knocks out around 4:30am, I try to too. But generally we try to be up and out the door by 7:30 for summer camp and day camp drop offs. My little adorable daughter is running off of 2-4 hour chunks of sleep (as am I).

So tonight, around 10:15pm I told Nickoma that we should divide and conquer. I'll take the first shift with Loo and he can take the second. We'll switch around 3am.

The Houthis had other plans.
10:21pm warnings
10:24pm sirens

The IAF shot down the missiles that the Houthis had fired at us. Most sirens like that are more to prevent casualties from falling shrapnel and to be extra cautious... Just in case.

So here we are... Still at war.
Still fighting Hamas. Will there be a ceasefire?
Still swatting off Houthi missiles.
Still fighting off HTS attacks on Druze villages in Syria.

Still heading to the shelter.
Still praying for peace.
