My family is officially stuck in America. They were supposed to fly home after a two week trip this Monday, landing in Israel on Tuesday. The main airport in Tel Aviv has been evacuated since the wee hours of Friday morning. There is no way in or out (unless you're willing to travel through Jordan, which I am not). So they're there until the beginning of July. ðŸ˜
Because of their absence and my need to be busy I asked to be involved with the distance learning plan of my school. I found a way to busy myself enough throughout the day. Including planning a team meeting for this evening at 8:30.
Not even 5 minutes into the meeting our phones went off with warnings that rockets were on the way. Ok.. nice seeing you, be with your families. Gnite.
At 8:40 I let my dog go outside one more time and while standing with her in the yard saw the most indescribable sight in the sky. Like a super nova opening. A blast of color and light. No sound. I attempted to take a video, but it didn't do it justice.
My heart lept and I could simultaneously feel it beating in my ears and throat. Then at 8:42pm the red alert siren started to wail.
My heart kept beating in my ears and throat as the booms outside my closed safe room door rattled the house.
It's now 8:57 and it's eerily quiet once again. My heart rate has slowed back down, clenched jaw released, and breathing has regulated.
Sarah, the Tubmans' hearts are all with you. Prayers for your safety and full recognition how terrifying it is for us far away, and so exponentially for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. That really means a lot.
