Today the bodies of Israeli - American dual citizens Gadi Haggai (72) and Judith (Judi) Weinstein (70) Haggai were recovered from Gaza. Their bodies have been return to their families for proper burial.
Gadi was a musician from the age of 3. He had a particular love of wind instruments. One night when playing the flute, a young volunteer named Judi heard him and fell in love. The couple married and had 4 children, and eventually 7 grandchildren.
Judi became an English teacher for special education students in Kibbutz Nir Oz. Gadi was a chef. Together they lived a healthy and active, vegan lifestyle filled with mindfulness and meditation. They were a power couple of Nir Oz, known and loved.
In the early morning of October 7, the couple went for a walk along the orchards of the Kibbutz. There, terrorists on motorcycles ambused the couple. Gadi was killed near a tree, brains spilling from his head, while his wife called emergency services for help. At some point, Judi was murdered and both her and Gadi's bodies were dragged to Gaza as hostages.
Over 1200 people were murdered in and around the Kibbutzim of southern Israel. Over 250 were abducted to Gaza. There are now 54 people still violently being held as hostages. Starved. Tortured. Humiliated. Waiting liberation.
Gadi and Judi were peaceful people who should have been enjoying the golden years of a long beautiful life together. Not brutally murdered next to the green fields they cherished.
May their memories be a blessing and may their families be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalim.
