June 23, 2025 - Day 626 - 3 more bodies recovered

The bodies of Yonatan Samerano, Ofra Keidar and Shay Levinson were recovered on Saturday and returned to their families for proper burial. 

Ofra Keidar (left), (71) from the kibbutz Be’eri community, was killed by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Her body was taken to Gaza, where it had been held since. Ofra was a wife, mother of three, and grandmother to seven. Her husband was also killed in Hamas’ attack. The morning of Hamas' attack, Ofra went for a walk - in the fields she loved - and never returned. 

According to a spokesperson from Be'eri, “Ofra was one of the women leading Be’eri to be the flourished kibbutz it has become, and set an example for other women while showing strength and leadership skills.”

Yonatan Samerano (center), (21) from Tel Aviv was fleeing the Nova music festival when murdered and his body taken to Gaza. He was a talented DJ and always surrounded by friends. According to the hostages forum, “Even at his young age, he was an entrepreneur at heart and a savvy businessman who dreamed of developing his career in event production”. Samerano’s family have made it clear that an UNRWA worker, was involved in the abduction of Samerano’s body.

Shay Levinson (right), (19) was a dual German-Israeli citizen and IDF tank commander from Givat Avni in the Lower Galilee. He was killed in combat on October 7 and his body abducted to Gaza. Shay was an outstanding volleyball player and okayed on a team that served as a model for Jewish-Arab cooperation. He chose to forgo "active athlete status" (exempting army duty) for meaningful combat service in the IDF. He was an exceptional man who was quiet, but also ambitious and driven. 

50 hostages still remain in Gaza.
