I never imagined that I would have to write a number that big. I was convinced that our hostages would be released long ago, and that the war would end. I was convinced that the world would see our suffering, help us stop terrorism and destroy Hamas. I was convinced that the Palestinians in Gaza would already be liberated from their terrorist captors.
Yet again and again I open the news and the headlines scream hatred, misinformation, and instead of pulling us together push us further apart.
Yet the very fabrics of our reality and collective consciousness keep being torn to shreds, forcing the divide between us and them further and further apart. Activism is now performative and blood libels stretch from Los Angeles to Europe and far corners in between.
I saw a video recently from the parents of murdered hostage Hersh Polin Goldberg z"l, Jon and Rachel. They are calling for more light and goodness to be put into the world.. today, Tuesday, June 10, day 613... and I wholeheartedly agree with them and their urgency.
As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr once famously said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
To that, I also am calling on all of my friends and family to do something good and kind (we'll everyday, but especially) today.
Help.
Listen.
Open your heart.
Open your mind.
Put light and love and peace into the world.
Compassion and understanding.
We are all one piece of the fabric of life. It's time to come together and remember our humanity.
There is no time to waste!
