January 25, 2025 - Day 477 - Four More

War Diary Day 477

Naama Levy.

Do you remember the name?

Back in October of 2023 when horrible videos were surfacing... Did you see her blood soaked pants as she was dragged barefoot from an animal's cage in the back of a truck and shoved, with bloodied hands into a back seat.

Did you also get a sick feeling? A sinking feeling of horror at the images unfolding in front of my eyes.

And then, the mothers of girls taken from the Nahal Oz base released the video of their capture. Seeing them beg for their lives. Begging to talk to their Palestinian friends.

You hear them being called sex slaves.

You see them silenced.
You see their bloodied faces.

You see Naama Levy's bloodied pants and your deepest fears, the ones you don't dare vocalize or let see the light of day... are happening to this girl and her friends.

Namma was a soldier. A 19 year old girl stationed at the border of Gaza. Their jobs being to observe and report.

60 of her friends and coworkers were murdered when Hamas overthrew their base.

Naama Levy, along with 5 other girls were the only survivors of the massacre at the Nahal Oz base. They were taken hostage for 477 days.

Today, we are about to witness their return to Israel.
Naama Levy, Liri Albag, Daniella Gilboa, and Karina Ariev.

This leaves one female soldier there alone, Agam Berger.

3 civilian women were released last week, but Shiri Bibas was excluded. She is still there. Alone? With her boys?

Not long ago a video of Liri Albag was released. A Hamas propaganda video made with the intent of psychological torture. In that video, we saw a broken girl with an animal's collar around her neck. One can only imagine what she's gone through.

Alone.
Terrified.
Trapped.

These girls will be notified soon of their release. We will see images of Hamas soldiers finally wearing their uniforms, handing out gift bags...memories of their time held underground. We will see the Red Cross in action, being a perfectly good Uber service (as they have done nothing to help the hostages for 477 days). We will see mothers embracing their daughters.

While in the back of our minds remembering that these girls were dragged, like Naama Levy, by the hair in blood soaked pants by her rapist captors.

If you have ever been raped or sexually assaulted, as many women have, then you know the cry #MeToo. The movement that enabled millions of women to be heard and recognized for their trauma. As these girls emerge from the dungeons of hell, we must be patient and give space for their healing.

While praying for the remaining hostages.
AND
Worrying about the 1900+ terrorists being released back to their homes.

There is no good solution.
But today 4 more come home. 🎗️
