Today at a Sukkot BBQ at my sister's house everyone's phones started lighting up with news flashes.
Yaha Sinwar is dead.
It's that feeling when Osama Bin Laden was eliminated.
Or (for those of us old enough to remember) Sadam Hussein.
Sinwar was the mastermind behind the October 7 invasion and massacre on southern Israel culminating in the kidnapping of hundreds of Israeli civilians from the age of 1 and up to and including a Holocaust survivor. He was pure evil. He was hatred manifested. An oppressor of the Gazan people and a terroriser of the Israeli people.
Perhaps now, finally, we are a real step closer to the liberation of 101 people still in captivity. Perhaps now the Gazans have a chance at self determination, safety and stability. Perhaps now the world, and especially the middle east, is a safer place to live. Perhaps, one year later, he couldn't keep hiding and justice was finally served.
I don't like celebrating death.
...but I will celebrate the elimination of evil and the growing potential of peace.
...and I'll celebrate the fact that my girls will grow up in world that will not have Sinwar in it.
Thank Gd.
The world just became a safer place.
