October 16, 2024 - Day 376 - Sukkot

It's crazy to think how simple life felt last Sukkot. Blissfully ignorant of the impending invasion, massacre, hatred and continued violence we would face
A moment of tranquility.
Calm.. before another impending storm?

Yet still, we build our thatched huts and celebrate the fall harvest culminating in Simchat Torah (when we finish reading the Torah, and begin again). According to the Hebrew calendar last year, this was October 7 - Simchat Torah. This year, the holiday is in one week on October 24.

Religiously and culturally we have a holiday deeply rooted in Israel's bountiful fall harvest around the lunar cycle, clocked by the Hebrew calendar.

This Sukkot my favorite decorations are the doves that each of our girls made in school now blowing in the wind.
A symbol of peace 🕊️
This was not a coordinated activity across the country. Just a deeply embedded hope for a peaceful future. It's in our psyche. We raise our children with the idea of it.
May it move from idea to reality quickly and purposefully.
Chag Sukkot Sameach.
Happy Sukkot.

One Love ✌🏼
Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱
