Well I've been in America for just under a month. One week from today, I was scheduled to fly home to Israel. Except as of this past weekend, all of our flights home have been cancelled. I flew Delta, which has cancelled flights until the end of the month. Nickoma and the girls flew United, which has cancelled flights for the foreseeable future.
With an impending attack from the Islamic Republic occupying Iran's sadistic leadership, most airlines have decided to avoid flying to Israel... At least for a while. Most news outlets are reporting that a major attack is brewing and that it could last 3+ days. They're reporting that the attack is imminent and to prepare for 3+ days of intense war.
So where does this leave me and my family? In limbo. Nickoma and I now have the daunting task of trying to figure out what to do and when/how to get home. Hopefully the coming day/s will help us gain some clarity as to what to do.
This may prompt many of you to say, great so just stay in America... This is not an option for us for several reasons.
1. We have a dog that we love and will not abandon in Israel.
2. We have a home, a life, friends, and family... We won't be abandoning that either.
3. I've built a career in Israel and at 43, am not looking to start over... Again. I did that 12 years ago when I immigrated to Israel, starting over is a young man's game that I'd rather not play anymore. I have a great school, teach teachers, and have influenced the English education in my area for over a decade.
4. I worked hard on a degree that I just finished a year ago. Transferring it back to any state in America will cause me to go back to school for at least a year. I'd rather consider a masters, than transferring my bachelor's degree.
5. Good... Bad... Or otherwise, I am a Zionist who believes in the Jewish people's (my people's) right to safety and to live in the land of our ancestors.
So unless you have a way to help me and my family to get home... Please save the "just abandon your life and move back" comments for another day.
