In the midst of everything...
It rained and hailed very suddenly in Tekoa this afternoon. (I grew up in central California, what do I know of rainstorms and hail? I know sunshine and drought.)
Meanwhile....
I'm lost in a sea of information coming a million miles a minute from a million different directions.
- My best friend just told me she's going to a third funeral tomorrow. Another friend from the SuperNova festival discovered murdered after being kidnapped in front of his wife.
- Another is still mourning the loss of her step daughter who was at a nearby smaller festival celebrating becoming newly engaged.
- Two elderly hostages were released. Although one said she was beaten until she couldn't breathe (and now has to be in a wheelchair), international media is focusing more on the fact that the hostages were "cared for" once they reached their destinations than the beating of an elderly woman. The interview given (under duress) was still while her own husband sits in Hamas captivity.
- Along with 30 children (of whom we have not yet seen one) of the 220 still captive.
- The international press community was invited to witness raw footage from dash board cams, door cams, and even Hamas' own abandoned vehicle cameras to understand what happened on October 7. The footage will not be released publically and the written details, I'll spare here.
Gruesome doesn't even begin to describe what I've read.
- There around 200,000 currently displaced Israelis who have fled their homes in the areas south near Gaza and north near Syria and Lebanon. They're being hosted around the country privately, in hotel, and even tents around the country.
- A friend of mine was called up for reservist duty. A young woman from my small bubble in Tekoa. She is trained in search and rescue, medical combat, and general army guarding and shooting skills. She was home for 24 hours yesterday and hearing how she's spending her days was enlightening to say the least.
Yet... It hailed today in Tekoa.
